Police use of drones alters not only daily practices but also how officers perceive their professional values. An ethnographic study of the Dutch national police drone team shows that drones create both physical and moral “remoteness,” a kind of tele-policing that distances officers from core duties. Yet, through a “good drone” discourse, officers reconcile this distance and reaffirm their commitment to public safety.
